NOTES:

The Metropolitan Opera began its Live in HD series in 2006 as a way to reach existing audiences and to introduce new audiences to opera through new technology.

Over 11 million people have attended the series since it began in 2006.

This season, The Met: Live in HD will be seen at more than 1,900 theaters in 64 countries. 14 theaters are located in Minnesota.

Marion Ross Performing Arts Center is the first independent theater in Minnesota to offer the series.

To participate in the series, The Marion installed a new 16 foot projection screen and digital video projector, as well as a satellite dish on its roof, allowing it to receive the direct feed from New York City.

Each opera is presented with on-screen English subtitles.

The audience enjoys an exclusive look behind the curtain before the show and during scene changes, as well as live interviews with the singers and other short features during intermissions.

Performances run through the end of April. The next opera is Verdi’s Otello on Saturday, October 27.

Story: A simple villager, Nemorino, seeks to win the heart of the irresistible Adina with the help of a mysterious "elixir of love" that bears a suspicious resemblance to French wine.

Running time for “The Elixir of Love” is approximately 185 minutes, including one intermission.
